LA Yoga & Bungee Studios? For Everyone
LA is a land of wellness, and yoga sure is a part of that.
Here are a handful of yoga studios throughout the city to be enjoyed and chosen in terms of altogether: 1. Rigorousness of exercise, 2. Variation of exercise such as stretching, cardio, and strength 3. The spiritual and mental attention such as breath focus and inspiration.
Modo Yoga
Modo has three locations in LA. The studios are hot yoga but the rooms don’t get too too hot. The standard class focuses on a series, the Modo series, that is a slow yet steady flow of postures. They offer yin yoga, a hit exercise class inclusive of burpees and the like, and a more rigorous flow series, freestyle flow, that feels as much like a dance of yoga, or your typical vinyasa class.
The teachers are exceptionally welcoming and acutely trained, and class syllabuses always feel intentionally planned with care. Most have awesome playlists. They offer membership deals and a karma class.
Hot 8
Hot 8 has five locations throughout LA. Known for being the hottest, the rooms get hot, you will easily be able to sweat, and be prepared. They even offer cool eucalyptus washcloths to take in the studios.
A range of classes, the yoga classes tend to be less rigorous while the barre classes are for the truly advanced. Yin and workout classes are top-tier excellent. The environment there is very amped up and or calming.
Pure Barre
With numerous locations throughout LA, Pure Barre is specific to barre classes. There’s a variety, the classes have great motivation and focus on core particularly, as well as overall alignment, and strengthening.
D&A Flying Yoga
If you want to feel like you’re in Cirque du Solei, attend one of D&A’s flying yoga classes! They’re special in that it’s a total reliever of gravity allowing you to stretch and strengthen in a different realm. Strength is required but familiarity with the practice isn’t necessary for first-timers.
New Workout Studio (NW Studio LA)
A personal bungee physio + pilates studio, bungee classes are a reprieve from gravity with added spring that small-form jumping up instead of down bungee provides. The theory of its impact is with consideration to lymph and blood flow. On top of that, it’s sooo fun, it’s a miniature lesson on flying. The bungees act as resistance points for your weight and relinquishment of gravity, a duel combo not often available for strength training.
*Safety tip
Just FYI, never feel bad if you need to leave a heated room because you’re uncomfortable, need to take a break in a child’s pose, or lie down.
Bottom line
The yoga scene can seem like it’s high-brow. It’s not. No one knows what they’re doing even if they look like or seem like they know what they’re doing including the instructors (sometimes ;). Everyone’s there to improve, to ground, to breathe, to relax, to get outta’ their head, to get into their bodies, to un-stress from the day, etc. etc. etc. I highly recommend all of the above for any of the aforementioned.
